What's a Moomin?
A Moomin (aka Mumin) looks a bit like a big, white hippo with lots of fur and a friendly face. Finnish author and artist Tove Jansson (1914-2001) drew her very first Moomin in the 1930s and the 9-part Moomins book series began, followed by Jansson's five Moomin picture books.
Moomins are the treasure of Finland and you can find them everywhere. In every store you find Moomin candy, moomin cups, Moomin books, today I even spot some Moomin coffee!
I don't knew them before I came to Finland but they are really popular and people where suprised I did not know them. So in Helsinki there is a Moomin shop where you can find all the 'official' Moomin stuff. In Turku there is also MoominWorld but I heard it is only open till Augus so I don't think I will visit them.
When I see a Moomin item I will post it here!
